To connect ChatGPT to WordPress, install the free Royal MCP plugin from WordPress.org, then in ChatGPT go to Settings → Connectors, toggle Developer Mode on, and add a new Plugin using your MCP endpoint URL. ChatGPT walks you through the OAuth consent flow, you click Authorize on your WordPress site, then set the per-Plugin permissions. Works on ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Team, Business, Enterprise, and Edu. Business, Enterprise, and Edu tiers unlock full write actions.

Install Royal MCP
Install the free Royal MCP plugin from WordPress.org and activate it. In WP Admin → Royal MCP → Settings, confirm the Enable toggle is on and copy your MCP endpoint URL:
Enable Developer Mode and add a Plugin
In ChatGPT: Settings → Connectors, toggle Developer Mode on. Then Plugins → Add more → New Plugin. Paste your MCP endpoint URL, give it a name, click Create.
Developer Mode is a one-time toggle per account. Required for custom Plugins.
Authorize and set permissions
ChatGPT redirects to your WordPress site's OAuth consent screen. Click Authorize. Back in ChatGPT, open the Plugin's Permissions setting and pick the approval behavior that matches how you want to use Royal MCP.
Enable the Plugin per-conversation via the + menu in the composer.

Send images and PDFs from the chat
New in Royal MCP 1.5.8: ChatGPT hands files from the conversation straight to your WordPress media library. Uploading is a write, so it follows your plan's write access above.
Attach or generate
Attach an image or PDF with the paperclip, or ask ChatGPT to generate an image, then ask it to upload the file. It lands in your media library in one call.
Compress on the way in
Ask for a JPEG under 400 KB or an image 1200 pixels wide. Royal MCP converts, resizes and compresses it on your site, so ChatGPT never edits the file first.
If an upload fails
After updating Royal MCP, refresh the connector in ChatGPT's settings so it sees the new upload options. Files ChatGPT makes in its code sandbox have no download link, so attach or upload the original instead.
