## What Royal Ledger Did

Royal Ledger was a free WordPress plugin that put all of a website's costs and license keys in one secure place. Instead of digging through emails and spreadsheets to track WordPress hosting fees, plugin subscriptions, domain renewals, and SaaS spend, Royal Ledger kept everything organized inside the WordPress dashboard.

License keys were stored with **AES-256 encryption** — the same encryption standard used by banks and government agencies — so sensitive third-party credentials stayed protected even if the database was compromised. The plugin tracked costs across six categories, gave a clear view of monthly and annual spending, and included renewal date reminders to prevent surprise charges.

Multi-site cost tracking supported agencies managing multiple WordPress installations, and reports could be exported for accounting or client billing.
