## What RoyalComply Did

RoyalComply was a free WordPress plugin for **cookie consent** and **privacy compliance**. It blocked analytics and marketing scripts until visitors gave consent, integrated **Google Consent Mode v2**, and adapted its banner behavior to satisfy **GDPR** (Europe), **CCPA** (California), and the **19 US state privacy laws** that took effect through 2025–2026.

Unlike most consent plugins that only show a banner, RoyalComply performed real script blocking — changing script type attributes so analytics and marketing scripts didn't execute until consent was granted. Google Consent Mode v2 integration sent all required consent signals (`ad_storage`, `analytics_storage`, `ad_user_data`, `ad_personalization`, and others) to Google Ads and Google Analytics.

The plugin covered **19 US state privacy laws**: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia. Server-side consent logging provided auditable records for regulatory demonstration.
