## How Did Royal Plugins Start?

Royal Plugins was created after over a decade of experience in the software development space and more importantly in the WordPress space. My very first websites were all built on WordPress back in 2009 — I remember building my first site around Christmas time and tinkering with HTML snippets to get my custom sidebars working. I had no idea I was near the very beginning of this magical CMS! According to [WordPress.org](https://wordpress.org/), there are now over 59,000 plugins on the repository as of 2025, but we saw gaps in quality, security, and developer experience that we knew we could fill.

2009

Built our first WordPress sites, learning HTML and CSS to customize themes and sidebars.

2010's

Developed custom plugins and solutions for clients, learning what works and what doesn't.

2020's

Identified gaps in the plugin ecosystem and began building solutions that we wished existed.

Today

Royal Plugins is born - bringing together everything we've learned into well-crafted tools.
